‘Landscape’ and its atlas analysis of Coastal heritage cities in China

Abstract

This paper focuses on three coastal heritage towns, Quanzhou, Macau and Kulangsu, using urban morphological atlas as the perspective to build a research framework for the interpretation of a database and morphological patterns of coastal heritage towns with Chinese characteristics.Firstly, the atlas and characteristics of the three coastal heritage towns in terms of urban morphology and block texture are summarized;Secondly, from the perspective of UNESCO's advocacy standards for heritage towns and urban morphology atlas, this paper makes a comparative study of the three heritage towns to find out their commonalities. Finally, it is proved that morphological methods can interpret and express the standards advocated by UNESCO.
