Polishing of Hard Machining Semiconductor Materials Made of Silicon Carbide
(Wydawnictwo Politechniki Łódzkiej ; Katedra Dynamiki Maszyn - Wydział Mechaniczny Politechniki Łódzkiej, 2011) Gołąbczak, Marcin
In the paper the application of silicon carbide (SiC) in electronics especially for production of p-i-n diodes have been shown. Also the technology of honing process of samples made of silicon carbide using grinding, lapping and polishing method has been presented. Finally the process of machining and the stand for surface preparation, selected investigation results concerning assessment of geometrical microstructure and morphology of SiC samples surface layer after machining process have been depicted.

Mechanical Properties of the Mineral Cast Material at the Macro and Micro Level.
(Lodz University of Technology. Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. Department Division of Dynamics., 2016) Kępczak, Norbert; Pawłowski, Witold; Klich, Marek; Kaczmarek, Łukasz
The paper presents the results of experimental examination of the mechanical properties at micro and macro scale of the mineral cast composites. Studies have been conducted to verify the literature data about the value of tensile strength, compressive strength and Young’s modulus. Additionally as a part of this research Poisson’s ratio was determined, which has not been encountered in the current literature as deeply as in this work. In the next step, a scanning electron microscopy (SEM) studies have been carried out to analyze fractures of the samples after tensile and compression tests. These results were correlated with mechanical properties such as tensile strength and compressive strength, respectively. During fracture investigations, the contact interface between concrete filler and polymer was studied. As a result of this research the mechanism of deformation was formulated.

Internal resonances in nonlinear vibrations of a continuous rod with microstructure.
(Politechnika Łódzka. Wydział Mechaniczny. Katedra Automatyki, Biomechaniki i Mechatroniki., 2015) Andrianov, Igor V.; Awrejcewicz, Jan; Danishevskyy, Vladyslav V.; Markert, Bernd
Nonlinear longitudinal vibrations of a periodically heterogeneous rod are considered. Geometrical nonlinearity is described by the Cauchy–Green strain tensor. Physical nonlinearity is modelled expressing the energy of deformation as a series expansion in powers of the strains. The governing macroscopic dynamical equation is obtained by the higher-order asymptotic homogenization method. An asymptotic solution is developed by the method of multiple time scales. The effects of internal resonances and modes coupling are predicted. The specific objective of the paper is to analyse how the presence of the microstructure influences on the processes of mode interactions. It is shown that depending on a scaling relation between the amplitude of the vibrations and the size of the unit cell different scenarios of the modes coupling can be realised.

Effect of Water Mist Cooling on Microstructure of Hypereutectic Al-Si Alloy
    (2014) Władysiak, Ryszard; Kozuń, Artur
The work is a continuation of research on the use water mist cooling in order to increase efficiency of die-casting aluminum alloys using multipoint water mist cooling system. The paper presents results of investigation of crystallization process and microstructure of synthetic hypereutectic AlSi20 alloy. Casts were made in permanent mold cooled with water mist stream. The study was conducted for unmodified AlSi20 alloy and modified with phosphorus, titanium and boron on the research station allowing sequential multipoint cooling using a dedicated program of computer control. The study demonstrated that the use of mold cooled with water mist stream allows the formation of the microstructure of hypereutectic silumins. A wide range of solidification temperature of hypereutectic silumins increases the potential impact of changes in the cooling rate on a size, a number and a morphology of preeutectic silicon and eutectic α+β (Al+Si).

Effect of Temperature on Ausferritic Nodular Cast Iron Microstructure
    (2014) Gumienny, Grzegorz; Klimek, Leszek
The work presents the results of the studies of the effect of the temperature on the microstructure of ausferritic nodular cast iron. The ausferrite in the matrix was obtained by way of a specific combination of molybdenum and copper. The cast iron underwent annealing at the temperatures of 520, 550 and 580°C. The work presents the effect of the annealing temperature on the fraction of austenite in the cast iron matrix. The annealed and non-annealed cast iron hardness is given. The work also proves that an increase in the temperature up to 580°C causes a drop in the cast iron hardness.

Effect of Cr and V alloy additions on the microstructure and mechanical properties of AM60 magnesium alloy
(2014) Rapiejko, Cezary; Pisarek, Bogusław; Pacyniak, Tadeusz
The paper presents the results of the investigation of the effect of Cr and/or V alloy additions on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the magnesium AM60 alloy. The examinations are performed within the frames of a project aiming at the elaboration of an experimental and industrial technology of producing constructively complex elements of machines and devices made of magnesium alloys with the method of investment casting. It has been proven that small numbers of Cr and V alloy additions improve the strength properties: Rm, A%, and the hardness HB of the obtained casts. The experimental casts were made in ceramic molds.
