Characteristics of the crystal as a physical object are discussed. The scheme of the
hierarchie order of seven crystallographic systems is presented. The figures illustrate
crystallographic elements of symmetry. Although, from the theoretical point of view,
230 spatial groups might be expected only some of them have corresponding real
crystals.
