Robust Two-View Reconstruction Procedure for Geometrical Model Retrieving
(Wydawnictwo Politechniki Łódzkiej, 2018) Walczak, Jakub; Wojciechowski, Adam
In this paper we present the enhancement of the standard two-view reconstruction procedure. An ordinary approach assumes determination of points’ correspondences followed by projection matrix estimation, to finally refine results with bundle adjustment taking as a cost function reprojection error. Our contribution is realized in two manners: introducing an additional step of outliers rejection, changing cost function of bundle adjustment process to Relative Reprojection Error (єᴿ) and applying central difference as a method for Jacobian matrix approximation. Tests revealed gain in average єᴿ with lower variance, for confidence level of 0.95. Besides accuracy improvement, the suggested modifications supply the final result in the time virtually independent on initial object’s complexity and, in most cases, shorter than the standard approach.

Rule Extraction from Active Contour Classifiers
(Wydawnictwo Politechniki Łódzkiej, 2018) Szczepaniak, Piotr S.; Pierścieniewski, Łukasz
In this paper, the idea of rule extraciton from active contour classifiers is presented. The concepts are new in relation to active contour approach. The problem is illustrated by examples having roots in technical diagnosis and in analysis of content of images.

Simulation of Quantum Resonance in the Quantum Register
(Wydawnictwo Politechniki Łódzkiej, 2018) Ostrowski, Marcin
In this paper, we examine whether a quantum computer can efficiently simulate resonant interaction between a pair of two-level quantum systems. We present an algorithm for simulating time evolution of such a system, implemented on standard two-input gates. We study the influence of accuracy of gates and decoherence on the quality of results.

The Evaluation of Text String Matching Algorithms as an Aid to Image Search
(Wydawnictwo Politechniki Łódzkiej, 2018) Ochelska-Mierzejewska, Joanna
The main goal of this paper is to analyse intelligent text string matching methods (like fuzzy sets and relations) and evaluate their usefulness for image search. The present study examines the ability of different algorithms to handle multi-word and multi-sentence queries. Eight different similarity measures (N-gram, Levenshtein distance, Jaro coefficient, Dice coefficient, Overlap coeffiient, Euclidean distance, Cosine similarity and Jaccard similarity) are employed to analyse the algorithms in terms of time complexity and accuracy of results. The outcomes are used to develop a hierarchy of methods, illustrating their usefulness to image search. The search response time increases significantly in the case of data sets containing several thousand images. The findings indicate that the analysed algorithms do not fulfil the response-time requirements of professional applications. Due to its limitations, the proposed system should be considered only as an illustration of a novel solution with further development perspectives. The use of Polish as the language of experiments affects the accuracy of measures. This limitation seems to be easy to overcome in the case of languages with simpler grammar rules (e.g. English).

Use of Motion Capture in Assisted of Knee Ligament Injury Diagnosis
(Wydawnictwo Politechniki Łódzkiej, 2018) Bednarski, Radosław; Bielak, Adrianna
This study treats of the use of motion capture systems as the help diagnose knee injuries. It consists of the theoretical work and the application. The written work describes a course of research includes choice of research group, selection of appropriate exercises, find useful computational methods, description created for research applications and summary results. The practical part was to create an application for physiotherapists which could help them to diagnosis potential pathology of the knee. The purpose of this study was to test whether a motion capture system dedicated to entertainment can be used in the medical aspect. This system was test for selected methods and determined to be suitable for supporting the diagnosis of knee injuries. Otherwise it has to be written what was the reason of failure. The results of the study were that after trial and error methods peeled action and created application proved helpful.
