Pozycja A study on the space composition designed by Stanisław Niemczyk in the context of evolving religiousness and spirituality(Lodz University of Technology Press, 2023) Tomczak JoannaThe proposed paper explores whether the traditional religious space can meet the needs of individual religiousness. The primary hypothesis assumes that the appropriate sequence of urban interiors, spatial boundaries, and transition points can be conducive to religious feelings. The research concerns architectural projects of Stanisław Niemczyk which combine spatial complexity along with a common impression of the prevailing religious atmosphere. The applied graph-based method intentionally ignores the architecture of the temple and concentrates particularly on spatial aspects. At first, individual units of space are distinguished, so that connections between them can be examined. The use of geometric simplification of space makes it easier to investigate space complexity, which appears to be overlooked in both architectural and urban analyses. However, this aspect seems to be crucial in terms of space that is related to spirituality.Pozycja Amsterdam’s Post-war Buildings Transformations in Bottom-up Processes. The Role of Municipal Housing Policy, Architects and Collaborative Groups of Future Residents in DIY (Klushuis) Affordable Housing Idea(Lodz University of Technology Press, 2023) Mader MałgorzataDue to the shortage of houses and the rise of housing market prices in Amsterdam, there is a high demand for diversification means of getting a place to live. From the municipal policy and bottom-up engagement, the idea of DIY emerged –the process of involving future residents in existing housing transformation process, which would allow for low-costapartment sale in return for self-managed renovation. The aim of the study is to investigate the process of the investments andevaluate the results in terms of the quality of architecture, socio-economic implications and goals of the sustainabledevelopment policy as well as defining the role of all actors taking part in the process. The objective is to research the examples of successful cooperation between bottom-up movements and municipal policy in order to broaden the view on options forefficient use of post-war housing heritage. The research is based on the case study of 3 DIY processes realized between 2016and 2022 in Amsterdam and it shows that a well conducted process leads to high quality apartments as well as promising socialeffects. Nevertheless its affordability can be questioned, therefore it should rather be treated as an alternative for active middle-class citizens, not as social housing solution.Pozycja Transformation of urban spaces of preindustrial cities in contemporary Lodzkie Voivodeship. Heritage preservation perspectives in interdisciplinary approach(Lodz University of Technology Press, 2023) Kroc Tomasz; Szewczyk KacperThe article presents the process of formation of medieval cities in central Poland. The authors focused on the most important cities before the industrial revolution in the border of present Lodzkie Voivodeship. The development of seven cities was presented, showing the conditions and process of transformations of the urban structure in different historical epochs, leading to the formation of a complete urban plan. In the next part of the article, the authors discuss the immutability of the medieval urban plan, despite the transformations that took place in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The evaluation of the urban structure is presented on the example of one of the discussed cities, showing the most important elements of historical heritage, as well as the scale of the19th and 20th century interference in the historical city plan. Finally, the authors take up the issues of heritage preservation of historical urban structure and contemporary planning problems. The work is presented in six main sections: 1) background with a description of the general information about the formation of cities in the Lodzkie Voivodeship, 2) methodology with a description of the research method, 3) Historical description of the cities, 4 )Evaluation of urban structure on an example of chosen city, 5) research results and discussion, 6) conclusions.Pozycja Transformation of urban tissue along downtown arteries Morphometric evaluation of resilient urban form(Lodz University of Technology Press, 2023) Kowalski Kamil; Hanzl MałgorzataThe complexity of urban processes, which occurred in post-socialist countries after the second world war, contributed to the creation of underdeveloped urban tissue that was, in many cases, resistant to changes. This applies particularly to cities that grew rapidly, such as Lodz. Unfinished processes of transforming urban tissue along urban arteries are still an unsolved problem of the city centre of Lodz. This article aims to compare and evaluate resilience of urban tissue that have taken place over the years along newly built urban arteries. The research contributes to the methodology of urban morphometry. We consider the construction of the most important transportation routes in Lodz as representative example. Based on the measurements of urban tissue elements, we assessed the dynamics of the changes taking place in the spatial structure along the main urban arteries. Besides, the aggregated data enabled us to reflect on the reasons for the transformations and their context. This study is in line with the current trend of searching methods supporting the evaluation of resilient urban form. In addition, the article continues the research initiated by Professor Marek Koter, whose study was a pioneering Polish solution in the implementation of quantitative methods to assess the transformation of the urban tissue.Pozycja Łódź U Like 2021 : 12 Ogólnopolskie Seminarium Naukowe Studentów Architektury - Zobaczyć. Dotknąć. Doświadczyć. Przeżyć. Opowiedzieć. : monografia(Wydawnictwo Politechniki Łódzkiej, 2021) Witkowski, Włodzimierz. Red. nauk.; Striker, Jarosław. Red. nauk.; Politechnika Łódzka. Instytut Architektury i Urbanistyki.; Koło Naukowe Studentów Architektury PŁ „IX Piętro"; Niemczyk, Ernest; Wdowiarz-Bilska, Matylda„Rzeczywistość dziś to utopia wczoraj” – słowa te padły niegdyś z ust francuskiego architekta Charles'a Édouarda Jeannereta, znanego pod pseudonimem Le Corbusier. [...]Pozycja Reinforcement of Lattice Tower Legs Made of Angle Sections(Wydawnictwo Politechniki Łódzkiej, 2021) Szafran, J.; Telega, J.The main goal of this paper is to present the results of the buckling resistance analysis of two types of unconventional reinforcement of legs of a telecommunications tower by means of equal-leg angle sections. The key reinforcing elements are round solid bars that are connected with the angle section in various ways. Two types of connection between an existing leg and reinforcing elements were considered: stiff (welded) and frictional (based on friction between round solid bars and sheet plates around them). The reinforced element was loaded by a surface force applied at the upper end of the angle section. The paper discusses the impact of how the reinforced and reinforcing elements were connected on the value of the critical force. For the frictional connection, it was also shown how environmental conditions (wet or dry) and the resulting friction coefficient influence the form of buckling and the failure mechanism. Calculations were made with FEM numerical analysis using the FEMAP software.Pozycja Polyurea Coatings as a Possible Structural Reinforcement System(Wydawnictwo Politechniki Łódzkiej, 2021) Szafran, J.; Matusiak, A.This paper describes studies completed under the research project “Polyurea coatings as a possible reinforcement system”. It primarily aims at assessing the usability of polyurea coatings for improving the performance of components of building structures. Basic studies on polyurea, simple physical tests and full-scale experiments were carried out for drawing up this paper. Their outcomes were analyzed, and the performance of the coating and its effect on building components was evaluated. The results of the analysis show that applying the polyurea coating makes it possible for structural elements to maintain integrity after their load-carrying capacities were exceeded, and helps improve other functional properties of a structure.Pozycja Probabilistic Analysis of the 6061 Aluminium Alloy Tensile Test with Random Initial Microdefects(Wydawnictwo Politechniki Łódzkiej, 2021) Strąkowski, M.; Kamiński, M.The main aim of this paper was to investigate an application of the generalized higher order iterative generalized stochastic perturbation technique in numerical simulation of 6061 aluminum alloy plastic behavior with structural initial microdefects. Gurson-Tvergaard-Needleman constitutive porous material model implemented in ABAQUS system has been employed for this purpose with its 2D triangular and quadrilateral elements. A volume fraction f0 of the initial microdefects naturally appearing in the material has been adopted as the input random variable having symmetric but not necessary Gaussian distribution. A verification of its uncertainty influence on statistical scattering of material specimen deformations, stresses and void volume fractions has been carried out thanks to the common usage of the FEM system ABAQUS and computer algebra system MAPLE 2019. The 10th order Iterative Stochastic Perturbation Technique has been compared with Monte Carlo Simulations and Semi-Analytical Method to analyze uncertainty in extreme stresses and deformations within the tensioned material coupon.Pozycja Static and Dynamic Analysis of Bar Structures Using VPL on the Example of Steel Dome(Wydawnictwo Politechniki Łódzkiej, 2021) Redzynia, M.; Kubacka, E.; Wirowski, A.In this note, the optimization analysis of a steel spatial structure was carried out. The object considered in the work is a steel mesh dome characterized by a triangular division, which was defined on the basis of the procedure proposed by Richard Fuller. The optimization analysis was performed using the Dynamo Studio software – definition of geometric models of domes and dynamic analysis, and also Robot Structural Analysis Professional – generation of calculation models of the structure. Finally, the most optimal variants of the mesh dome geometry were selected from the considered ones.Pozycja Comparative Analysis of the Resistances of Uniplanar Joints in Lattice Structures(Wydawnictwo Politechniki Łódzkiej, 2021) Majtka, J.; Gajdzicki, M.; Supeł, Ł.The aim of the study is to compare the design resistance of selected planar K-type joints in lattice girders, made of square hollow sections. A comparative analysis was carried out using three methods: Eurocode 1993-1-8 (EC3) application rules, the FEM method using Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis software, and the CBFEM method using Idea Statica software. The resistance of lattice joints depends on many parameters and the range of possible cases seems to be infinite. Therefore, the study was limited to investigating the influence of the variation of the four geometrical parameters of the nodes. The research also reports and discusses the differences in the results obtained from the three methods mentioned above and shows that there is a need to extend the provisions of the EC3 standard with additional cases that may occur when designing lattice structures.
